Elizabeth City Baptist Church is an Independent Baptist church that stands for the Word of God, Biblical living, and the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. We sing traditional hymns and all preaching is done with the 1611 King James Version of the Bible. About Our Staff
Senior Pastor
Pastor Jon Nettesheim
Pastor Jon Nettesheim is the founding pastor of the Elizabeth City Baptist Church. He has led our church to reach people, without compromising on Biblical principles. He was born in Longview, TX to David and Mandy Standfield who were both devout Christians. At 4 years of age, his father was killed in a tragic car accident leaving his young family behind. His mother later remarried a wonderful Christian man, Matt Nettesheim, and moved the family to Virginia Beach, VA in 2000.
Pastor Nettesheim accepted Christ as his Saviour when he was a child, and was called to preach at the age of 16 under the ministry of Dr. Tom Wallace. Later on, he received his training at the Grace Baptist Bible Institute of Chesapeake, VA. He served faithfully as an Assistant Pastor at the Chesapeake Baptist Church and was ordained to the Gospel ministry in 2020.
He and his wife Heidi were happily married in December of 2016 and God has blessed them with 4 children: Tirzah, Lydia, David, and Jemima.
Youth Leader & Song Director
Bro. Phillip McArdle
Phillip McArdle has served the Lord faithfully at our church since 2021 and served his country just as well in the United States Marine Corps for 9 years. He directs the music at our church and is the leader of our Youth Group. He and his wife Kayla, along with their children, Nathanael and Elisabeth, play a big part in the ministry of Elizabeth City Baptist Church.
